Why You Ought to Try Washing Your Face with Honey

Have you ever wondered what is in the soap you currently use? Don’t get me wrong, I am not a 100% anti commercial product kind of person, but sometimes the natural route is best; especially if you have sensitive skin that might be prone to outbreaks of spots, pimples, zits and the rest.

Why have we evolved to think we need to rub commercially manufactured lotions that are filled with non-beneficial chemicals onto our bodies? You know, the perfect little pink heart shaped soap with little designs, sitting there as a perfect brick on the edge of the sink? Do you really think are ancestors used these pretty little washing products? How do you think they keep their shape and last for months? Is it because of their natural state? No!

I myself shower with water and I know other people do too (check out this post). I do wash my hair with shampoo and wash my hands with soap after using the toilet, but with regards to my face and body, running water does the trick.

However, every now and then I take it a step further and wash my face with honey.

Why Wash Your Face with Honey

My number one reason and it may be the wrong one, is because it is incredibly easy. All you do is take raw honey, apply it to the face for a while (15 minutes or so) and then wash it off with water. If you want a more complicated recipe that also includes the use of coconut oil, you can check it out at epicraze. It is full of goodness that can cleanse and moisturize the skin and clean off any dead and depleted cells.

The important thing here is to only use raw honey. Not the pasteurized honey that is synthetic in its own right. This is a process to simply make it last longer and kill any yeast that could possibly build up.

However, if honey is pasteurized, it removes all the beneficial vitamins, nutrients, enzymes and other natural constituents. It other words, it kills it; leaving something that might taste great, but unfortunately provides no benefits in the slightest.

The Benefits of Raw Honey

The wonderful benefits of raw honey include anti-fungal, anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties. Not only this, it is packed with vitamins and beneficial enzymes that are natural which will only benefit the skin.

What will make most women (some men too) ecstatic is the fact that honey can preserve the elasticity of the skin as well as capture moisture and antioxidants. What does this mean? Well its slow acting Botox that is performed over time; will help reduce and prevent the appearance and development of wrinkles. Yay!

There is an array of other benefits which apply when you ingest it, but as the scope of this article is based on the washing of skin with honey, I will not elaborate on these points.

Why You Ought to Try This!

Well, why not? Are the reasons above not enough? Well how about this one and it should hit home with most people. Honey is cheap compared to the many products that you will try just to achieve the same effect. I mean, most of them don’t even work, others are hyped, some are expensive and some are very expensive. Not to mention, for these products to sit on the shelves and in people’s houses for months on end, they have to, without fail, contain chemicals that are there for preserving purposes only, and these are the ingredients that may not agree with your skin type, or may just be downright bad for you.
